Danese Cooper

Danese Cooper is vice president of special initiatives at NearForm, an Irish tech firm. Previously, she was head of open source software at PayPal, CTO of the Wikimedia Foundation, chief open source evangelist for Sun, and senior director of open source strategies for Intel. Danese was also the inaugural chairperson of the Node.js Foundation. She concentrates on creating healthy open source communities and has served on the boards of Drupal Association, the Open Source Initiative, the Open Source Hardware Association, and she's advised Mozilla and the Apache Software Foundation. Danese also runs a successful open source consultancy that counts the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the SETI Institute, Harris, and Numenta as clients. She's been known to knit through meetings.

Alex Miller

Alex Miller is General Manager for Stack Overflow's private Q&A businesses, working with organizations to develop their own internal knowledge sharing communities to empower their developers. Before he was focused on helping companies understand and enable their development teams, Alex was our Vice President of Operations, responsible for scaling the operations and building the internal culture and workflow of Stack Overflow. He joined Stack Overflow with operations experience for a variety of startups and media properties, including Yext, TechCrunch50, This Week in Startups, Kevin Pollak's Chat Show and many more. He has a BA in political science from the University of California, San Diego (where he still returns regularly for the warm weather and tacos). Alex also sits on the board of DigitalUndivided, a non-profit dedicated to the entrepreneurial success of Black and Latinx women Founders.

Spencer is an experienced full-stack developer who specializes in iOS and Node.js applications, and more recently he’s been working with drones, machine learning, and computer vision technologies to lessen bottlenecks in airline operations. Spencer is also a co-creator of and advocate for American’s InnerSource initiative, creating a community focused increased transparency, reduced duplication of efforts, and collaboration across organizational boundaries.

Choudhury is also a member of the Executive Committee for the Institute of Data Intensive Engineering and Science (IDIES) based at Johns Hopkins.
Choudhury is a President Obama appointee to the National Museum and Library Services Board. He is a member of the National Academies Committee on Forecasting Costs for Preserving, Archiving, and Promoting Access to Biomedical Data. He was a member of the National Academies Board on Research Data and Information and the Blue Ribbon Task Force on Sustainable Digital Preservation and Access. He has testified for the Research Subcommittee of the Congressional Committee on Science, Space and Technology.

Kristof Van Tomme is an open source strategist and architect. He is the CEO and co-founder of Pronovix. He’s got a degree in bioengineering and is a regular speaker at conferences in the API, DevRel, and technical writing communities. For a few years now he’s been building bridges between the documentation and Drupal community. He is co-organiser of the London Write the Docs meetup, and cheerleader for the Amsterdam Write the Docs meetup group. After his first two InnerSourcing Conferences, Kristof got really excited about pattern languages and how they can be applied to help teams develop better documentation despite the constraints that exist for internal software programs.

He hails from and is a Baltimore champion, where he learned urban communities as a decade long resident and community organizer in West Baltimore. He advises, inspires, and works with municipal, academic, and institutions on organizing and scaling open source in cities.
